The Story Behind Prime Holdings Group LLC

Prime Holdings Group (PHG) was born not from sudden ambition, but from a deliberate redefinition of purpose.
Between 2016 and 2017, I found myself reassessing my goals—professionally and personally. At the time, I was deeply rooted in technology, security systems, entrepreneurship, and customer service. I was known for one defining trait: once I committed to a task, I stayed with it until it was completed. That mindset became the foundation for everything that followed.
While employed at EccoSelect, I began receiving more outside work than I could reasonably manage while holding a full-time job. Clients were requesting my help during standard work hours, and the demand was growing quickly—and lucratively. What started as opportunity soon became conflict. I needed the freedom to plan, execute, and work at my own pace, without compromising either my employer or my clients.
My first venture, Security Systems KC, focused on computers and commercial and residential security camera systems. As that business grew, I acquired a physical space to house inventory and operate a small tech shop. With the help of close friends, that same space evolved into a second venture—an event venue. It was during this transition that I recognized a larger vision taking shape. I wasn’t building a single business; I was building a portfolio.
In 2017, that realization led to the formation of Prime Holdings Group LLC, a holding company created to provide structure, discipline, and long-term strategy across multiple businesses.
Throughout this period, I remained employed at EccoSelect—a company I genuinely respected. However, balancing full-time work with nights and weekends devoted to my own businesses began to take a toll. Eventually, my health intervened. When I required a kidney transplant, life forced a pause that became a moment of clarity. I realized that the one thing no one ever has more of is time. That understanding changed everything.
During my recovery, I developed a thoughtful exit plan. I openly discussed my future with my employer, and we agreed on a mutual, respectful departure. From that point forward, I committed fully to building PHG.
With control of my time, growth followed. Clients referred new clients, and Security Systems KC expanded steadily. I reinvested that income—along with my retirement savings—and, with support from a few lifelong friends, funded and sustained the event venue until it could stand on its own.
Around 2019, I met my wife, Carla Mabin, a natural leader and organizer who was successfully operating her own company, ShutterBooth KC. Her influence on both my personal growth and business confidence was transformational. Together, we reinforced a shared belief that customer service is non-negotiable.
As PHG matured, my role evolved. I continued working as a technician until I could hire and train others. I personally trained team members in technology, security systems, customer service, and problem-solving—instilling the same standards I held myself to. Leadership, to me, meant teaching, empowering, and building systems that allowed others to succeed.
Challenges were constant—particularly financial pressure. Our businesses were strong but not yet “mainstream,” requiring patience before traditional financial institutions would recognize their stability. Still, quitting was never an option. We simply found a way forward.
Today, Prime Holdings Group is home to three prospering businesses:

PHG is a customer-service-driven organization, focused on sustainable growth and long-term impact. What I am most proud of is not just what we’ve built, but the relationships we’ve formed—with our clients, our partners, and our community.
